Family Fitness and Wellness Fun Night
Family Fitness and Wellness Fun Night will take place on Tuesday, April 9th from 5:30 -7:30 pm. Certificates will be handed to all students who attend which will also act as your dress down pass. The night will begin with a guest speaker followed by Scholars' Academy teachers who will be hosting various fitness and health related activities such as Jump Rope Competition, Scholars’ Ninja Warrior, Basketball Shooting Competition, Wellness Jeopardy Game, Escape the room using the website Myplate. Scholars' Academy College Fair
Please mark your calendars!!! We are hosting our annual College Fair on Thursday April 4, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the dining room. This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with college admissions representatives in a small setting.

Scholars' Career Fair
Career Day will took place on Tuesday, March 19 and we had about 40 career professionals. This year the Career Day took place in the gymnasium and each grade had an assigned period of time to meet with career professionals. Rotations were for a duration of 25 minutes where students participates in two rotations. During the rotation students selected one field per rotation listed on the top of the sheet (given by the HR teacher) for a total of two rotations.
The Scholars' Academy Student Government High School Dance was scheduled for Wednesday, March 20th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. However, due to lack of ticket sale, it was canceled.
STEM Symposium Intervisitation & Family STEM Night March 12th!
π (pi) DAY
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14, every year, around the world. The symbol "π" is a greek symbol that is used in math to represent a constant, also known as a the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Due to the approximation of pi being 3.14, we celebrate it on March 14. Pi day is an annual opportunity for all people, especially math enthusiasts, to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to friends about math and eat all kinds of pie.
St. Patrick's Day Rockaway Parade is this Saturday, March 2, 2019.
Join us at 1pm sharp at Beach 133rd Street and Newport Avenue and march with us down Newport behind our band and cheerleaders to B105 or for a few blocks if you can. All parents, alumni, current scholars, and especially sports teams and clubs are encouraged to join us.

Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support The Scholars' Academy PA. Come in to the Chipotle at 160-10 Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach on Monday, February 4th between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to The Scholars' Academy PA.
Online orders will not be included in the fundraiser total. To ensure your purchase is counted in the fundraiser, be sure to order and pay in-restaurant. Gift card purchases during fundraisers do not count towards total donated sales, but purchases made with an existing gift card will count.
The plant feeds only on human flesh and blood.

The Scholars' Academy Marching Band performed for thousands of handicapped children on Wednesday, December 5th at JFK Airport as part of the annual Operation Santa celebration, which will culminate in the arrival of Santa in a Delta Airlines Shuttle. Read more here.
SCHOLARS' SAYS THANK YOU!!
Thank you Councilman Eric Ulrich for providing a grant partnership with the Queens Botanical Garden and our Student Garden Club, led by the science teacher, Jonathan Bradley. Thanks to this joint partnership supported by our active and tenacious City Councilman Eric Ulrich, our garden is finally back to life after being destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. See it’s beauty in this very short slide show.
Give Thanks by Giving Toy Drive
The Scholars' Academy Key Club is collaborating with Kid Care NY by having a toy drive for homeless children to brighten up their holiday spirits. Knowing what it means to get help and give thanks, the Scholars' Academy continues to pay it forward. This is an annual event and we have had always had success in bringing hundreds of toys to homeless children throughout New York. All donated toys must be new and unopened. Students who donate will receive a dress down day for November 21st. Toy collection will begin next Wednesday on October 10th, Key Club will have collection bins put out during morning arrival.
Scholars' Academy Celebrates FLAG DAY!
In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
"Resolved, that the Flag of the thirteen United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white on a blue field, representing a new constellation," it said.
College Access Parent Event
Throughout the school year, students have been engaging in many activities related to college and career readiness. Our culminating activity will be for students to complete a vision board that will demonstrate their plans for their future.
We invite you to join us on June 12th to participate in a gallery walk. The event will run from 6PM-7PM. Kindly fill out this interest form. Students will receive a dress down day pass with parent's participation.
The hackScholars at Scholars' Academy H.S. premiers the student hackathon on June 9th, from 9am to 6pm.
The hackScholars aims to diversify the tech environment with the help of one of the United States' most diverse high schools. Acting as a means for change, we hope to expand interest in Computer Science and create connections with others.

The 2018 Boardwalkathon was a Success! Over 1,400 members of the Seawolf Pack Enjoyed an approximate 3.5 mile walk on the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk! A a big THANK YOU to our Parent Association!
The "Broadway through the ages" was a successful musical showcase in which Carel A., Maria B., Chibuiken C., Sade F., Nicholas G., Jonathan M., Sarah N., Oladoyin O., Destini P., Sydney S., Victoria S., and Steven W., truly showed us the Best of Broadway at Scholars' Academy theater.
